Mark & Brian say goodbye to Ted
As the executive producer of KLOS’s legendary Mark & Brian Show, Ted’s typical day encompassed managing talent, publicists, reporters, promotions, researching news stories and celebrity gossip, coordinating ticket give-aways, website promotions, and booking guests. He led a daily brainstorming session with the team, contributing ideas for new sketches, show segments and events.
The not as typical days were producing events including ten Mark & Brian Christmas Variety Shows, remote broadcasts and live Amphitheater shows that headlined the likes of Bon Jovi, Melissa Etheridge and Foreigner. As Mark & Brian have said, “Ted is a world class producer, he solves problems before they happen, his attention to detail is unparalled, and he never gets flustered.”
When Mark & Brian disbanded, Ted found himself at a crossroads. He could look for another position as an executive producer or take his valued skill set and go out on his own.
Ted’s vision crystallized over lunch with a band tour manager who he had worked with over the years. This conversation reminded him of what he already knew. What Ted liked the most and what he was best at was producing events.
Today Ted combines his vast experience, attention to detail and ability to stay calm under pressure with the talent for coordinating all aspects of an event, from inception to execution.
A graduate of the Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University, he also served as Executive Producer of The Michael Jackson Show which aired on KABC until 1999. Ted’s first foray into media was as a Production Supervisor for the Evening News at KCBS TV.
When not planning his next great event, he can be found reading the latest Ken Follet epic novel in a hammock or working on his tennis game.
